10/23 Applications Open for SAPA's Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Task Force

Posted 10/23 by Tita Anderson Lovell

Over the summer, the executive board and advisory board met to discuss the state of SAPA and our vision for its future. One of the recurring themes in our discussion was thinking about how SAPA will continue to grow into the future. Part of growth includes taking time to reflect on the current state of things, and one aspect that we all felt we have not fully explored is the incredible diversity within SAPA. How do we, as an organization, encourage and support our membership and our performers? Are there areas that we could make intentional changes to provide equity within our circuit and encourage inclusion? How do we ensure that we are reaching as many people as possible with our mission?

The SAPA Executive Board would like to create a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force to assess the current state of our circuit. In addition, the Task Force will be responsible for developing a charter for our circuit to follow to ensure that we are providing an equitable and inclusive experience for our entire membership. We encourage anyone involved in SAPA to apply to be a member of the Task Force. We have a few requirements to participate, as detailed below:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age as October 1, 2023
  • Must be a current SAPA director, staff member, and/or performing member
  • Must have ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to participate in bi-monthly video conferences and digital communications, as needed
To apply, please complete the application at the following link: https://forms.gle/wmwsSX9X5ijvN33t9

The deadline to apply will be January 31, 2024.
