DEI
A welcoming, safe, and equitable space for every participant—on the floor, in the stands, and behind the scenes.
Our Commitment
SAPA promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through clear policies, accessible programming, and community education. We expect all member units, spectators, and volunteers to uphold these standards.
Core Principles
Dignity for every person; zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination.
Barriers removed whenever possible—information, facilities, and opportunities.
Ongoing learning for directors, staff, judges, and volunteers.
Clear expectations, reporting pathways, and consistent follow-through.
Inclusive Practices & Expectations
Language & Conduct
Use respectful, inclusive language; avoid stereotypes. Address issues promptly and privately when possible.
Costumes & Design
Consider modesty options, cultural sensitivity, gender expression, and a range of body types in design choices.
Facilities & Flow
Clear wayfinding, accessible warm-ups, and safe prop/equipment routes for all performers and volunteers.
Team Culture
Model consent-based teaching, provide accommodations, and elevate underrepresented voices.
Accessibility & Accommodations
SAPA aims to make events accessible to performers and spectators with disabilities. If you or a member of your group needs an accommodation (seating, parking, communication, or warm-up adjustments), please contact us in advance so hosts can prepare.
Reporting & Support
Anonymous Reporting
Report concerns about conduct, discrimination, or safety. SAPA does not tolerate retaliation.
Open ReportingTraining & Requirements
All adults in contact with participants must complete approved background checks and abuse-prevention training. Directors should retain certificates for verification.
DEI Committee
The DEI Committee advances equity initiatives, reviews feedback, and partners with hosts to improve access. Directors, staff, performers, parents, and alumni are welcome to connect.
