Q. How do I register my unit to be a member of SAPA?
A. The link to the unit registration site is http://www.unitmanagement.sapaonline.net/shared/login.aspx, and there is also a link on the left side of the main SAPA website in the box titled "shortcuts". You MUST create a new username and password in the unit management site, as it will not recognize the ones from the general site. You can, however, make them the same so you can remember them easily.
Q. What does this mean for my group if I become a member of SAPA?
A. Basically, membership in SAPA will mean:
- Potentially less money spent on transportation to and from competitions
- More opportunities to compete in your area
- Less money spent on overnight housing
- Greater access to educational resources for your unit.
Q. Can I be a member of both SAPA and SCGC?
A. Of Course! There are units who are members of several different circuits.
Q. Why was SAPA established anyway?
A. The Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) was formed for several reasons:
- The increasing size of the SCGC and the increasing length of SCGC Championships
- The rising cost of fuel and other travel expenses to and from regions that the SCGC services
- The need for shows that are closer to units that may not have the resources to travel long distances.
- The need for shows within areas that have travel restrictions put on them
- A need for a more structured and consistent educational experiences for the units within Alabama and Georgia
Q. Where will SAPA Circuit Championships be held?
A. The 2008 SAPA Championships will be held at the Macon Centreplex. There are pictures and a description on the main SAPA website.
Q. Can I host a SAPA show?
A. Of Course! We would love for you to host a SAPA show please E-mail rbailey@sapaonline.net. I would love to talk to you further about this process.
Q. What about percussion?
A. We are definitely having a percussion division within the SAPA. If fact if you have any questions at all about the percussion, please let us know and we can answer any and all questions you may have. We want you to know that everyone involved is working together to make everything work smoothly for BOTH divisions of our circuit.
Q. Is this a totally new circuit?
A. Yes, The Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) is a totally new circuit that will be based out of Alabama and Georgia. However, membership will not be limited to these two states. |
